Smaller universities tend to have very tight knit student bodies and a less competitive environment than the larger universities. While a bit of competition can be healthy, it can be distracting for international students who are already dealing with more than what the average student has to deal with to get an education. Just because a university is small doesnt mean that its not prepared to accommodate international students. In fact, some of the smaller universities have staffs that are dedicated to helping international students get in and get enrolled. Because these schools are smaller, youll generally find that the counselors have more time to speak with you and that they will take more time in helping you out to make sure that everything you need is taken care of. This is not only an advantage economically and educationally, its also an advantage psychologically.
